Indian expats in the UAE can get health insurance for families back home

February 24, 2016

DrAzad_Moopen_22Indian residents in the UAE can now provide health insurance for their families back home, reported The National newspaper.

This is due to a collaboration between the UAE’s Aster DM Healthcare and RAK Insurance which offers policies costing between $61 (AED 225) and $1,034 (AED 3,800) a year for a primary member. The policies cover care at 5,500 hospitals in India.

The primary member can add a spouse, children, parents and in-laws who reside in India. While the cut-off age to add family members is 70 years, the plan can be renewed until a member is 75 years.

In addition, new-born babies are not automatically covered and will need to wait until the policy renewal anniversary to be added. Congenital conditions are also not covered.
