No extension, renew, transfer, visit, work or family visa for Syrians

July 2, 2018

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality and Passport Affairs, Brigadier-General Talal Marafie, has issued instructions to the directors-general and their assistants at all immigration departments in the six governorates of Kuwait not to extend, renew or transfer visit, work or family visas for Syrians, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the instructions, which went into effect immediately, the Syrians are also not allowed to transfer their visit visa to family or work visa. This leaves the Syrians with two options, either to stay in the country illegally or leave for Syria. In response to a question on the proposals to impose fees on visits and increase the fine on violators of the residence law, the source said these proposals will be decided after a study is submitted to the competent authorities.
